Mickey Thompson Pro Top Outlaws Series Kicks off “No Rules Tour”

Mickey Thompson Pro Top Outlaws will begin its 8th year of competition in 2009 with a veteran class of elite racers competing for the coveted championship that showcases some of the best 1/8 mile heads up racers in the Midwest. This year the “No Rules Tour”, sponsored by Mickey Thompson, has implemented new rules, or lack there of, in an effort to create even more spectacular racing for their fans and more options for the various combinations the competitors would like to use.

Former PTO Champion Phil Esz will begin his second year on the other side of wall, as he continues to manage the series. “We feel like this could be a really good year for us. Our membership base has continued to grow and with the new rule changes we hope that we will be able to get even more quality competitors to put on a show for the great fans who have been coming out to watch us year after year. This year, Mickey Thompson has come on board with us as the series sponsor and we couldn’t be happier to have them involved. They are one of the premier distributors of tires and wheels across the country and we are excited to showcase their products throughout the Midwest.”

The series is dedicated to showcasing all types of vehicles, dragsters, alterds, funny cars and pro mods, including NITRO burning, alcohol, NOS, heads up against one another in 2 separate fields. When other series’ traditionally separate them into different classes, the Pro Top Outlaws bring a unique heads up racing experience for the racers and the fans. Modified slightly from last year to make the racing more competitive, the Spitzer Top Guns will showcase the quickest 4 cars after qualifying racing HEADS UP as fast as they can go. The American Colorscans Super Eliminator class will be comprised of qualifiers 5 thru 12 racing on a 3.99 Index. This should make for some really exciting racing and put on a spectacular show for the fans.

The season will get underway June 12^th and 13^th in Roxoboro, North Carolina at the 50^th Annual Anniversary Nationals.
